All the awarding bodies re-inforce the message that confidential information relating to 3rd parties must not be used as part of a candidate's portfolio of evidence for assessment. What this means in practice is that photocopies of documents should not be used as learner evidence and in written evidence accounts, all 3rd parties should be anonamised.
However, I still regularly see portfolios where photocopies of actual documents are included and the 3rd parties name has been blocked out with white correction fluid. This is still in breach of the awarding bodies requirements. If we are using real work documents as part of learner evidence, all that is required is an audit trail as to where the actual document can be found. So for example, if a learner had been involved in an accident at work and was using this as evidence, rather than take photocopies of the accident book and reports, all that is required is a short statement saying what they did and where the actual work products as coroborating evidence can be located. The assessor, and if sampled the internal verifier, sign the statement to say they have checked out the actual work products.
The requirement is to provide an audit trail of evidence - this does not mean that all the actual evidence itself has to be included as a paper document in the learners portfolio.
